BTC, SPX, and GOLD λS records available for August analysis.
Status Card — V6
August 2026
BTC-led Transition pockets emerged inside a still non-critical environment, while persistent Gold pressure continued and SPX stabilized.
August 2026 was materially more stressed than July at the BTC and global derived-risk layers. BTC produced repeated Transition observations and reached a monthly λS maximum of 0.694219, while the global Risk Index entered the derived Transition band in 6.33% of readings. GOLD remained overwhelmingly pressured and carried the highest average λS, whereas SPX shifted strongly toward Stable. No Critical readings or alert records occurred. Global interpretation still requires a coverage caveat because 72.41% of global readings were BTC-only.
No alert documents were recorded during the month.
47 global Risk Index observations entered the derived Transition band; none entered Critical.
1. Executive Summary
August marked a clear change from July. BTC was no longer an overwhelmingly Stable asset: Stable fell to 57.60%, Pressure rose to 33.24%, and Transition represented 9.15% of BTC observations.
GOLD remained the persistent asset-level pressure carrier, with 96.30% of observations in Pressure and the highest monthly average λS at 0.433707. However, the month's strongest individual λS reading came from BTC, not Gold.
SPX moved in the opposite direction. It spent 93.12% of its active observations in Stable and only 6.88% in Pressure, making it the calmest of the three monitored assets during August.
At the global layer, the average Risk Index rose to 0.369289 and 6.33% of observations entered the derived Transition band. Yet the strongest global readings were BTC-only observations, so the month should not be described as fully synchronized cross-asset Transition.
August was a higher-tension month than July, driven primarily by BTC Transition episodes and persistent Gold pressure, but the evidence remained non-critical and only partially cross-asset confirmed.
2. Data Coverage
The monthly dataset contained 1,065 λS runs. Unlike July, no documents were recorded in failed_runs.
| Asset | Runs | Avg λS | Min λS | Max λS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | 743 | 0.372409 | 0.233361 | 0.694219 |
| SPX | 160 | 0.322155 | 0.281714 | 0.405725 |
| GOLD | 162 | 0.433707 | 0.327617 | 0.551182 |
GOLD again carried the highest average λS, but BTC produced the highest peak reading of the month by a wide margin.
3. Global Coverage
| Coverage | Share |
|---|---|
| BTC only | 72.41% |
| BTC + GOLD + SPX | 25.71% |
| BTC + SPX | 1.21% |
| BTC + GOLD | 0.67% |
Full three-asset coverage represented only 25.71% of global readings, while BTC-only readings represented 72.41%. GOLD was skipped in 547 diagnostics and SPX in 543, both primarily under stale-signal diagnostics.
The global layer remained usable, but the majority of August readings described BTC-led eligible coverage rather than simultaneous three-asset confirmation.
4. Asset-Level Market State Distribution
| Asset | Stable | Pressure | Transition | Critical |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | 57.60% | 33.24% | 9.15% | 0% |
| SPX | 93.12% | 6.88% | 0% | 0% |
| GOLD | 3.70% | 96.30% | 0% | 0% |
August produced a sharper cross-asset divergence than July: BTC became materially more stressed, SPX became substantially calmer, and GOLD remained almost continuously in Pressure.
Gold remained the persistent pressure carrier, but BTC became the source of the month's only asset-level Transition behavior.
5. Global Risk Index Behavior
| Derived Risk Band | Share |
|---|---|
| Stable | 50.20% |
| Pressure | 43.47% |
| Transition | 6.33% |
| Critical | 0% |
The global layer was materially more elevated than in July. Transition appeared in 47 readings, but the top global pressure records in the diagnostic summary were all BTC-only coverage observations. The maximum global Risk Index of 0.685698 therefore reflects a strong eligible-set reading, not full three-asset synchronization.
6. Asset-Level Regime Behavior
BTC
BTC remained predominantly SIDEWAYS at 76.85%, but its signal layer was much more stressed than in July. TRENDING_UP represented 15.48% of regime observations and the strongest Transition cluster occurred while BTC was in TRENDING_UP.
SPX
SPX was 93.12% Stable. Its regime distribution was more balanced: 50.00% SIDEWAYS, 30.00% TRENDING_UP, and 20.00% TRENDING_DOWN.
GOLD
GOLD remained 96.30% Pressure while TRENDING_UP became its dominant regime at 54.94%. SIDEWAYS represented 24.07% and TRENDING_DOWN 20.99%.
7. Pressure Pockets
The strongest August pressure pocket shifted from GOLD to BTC. The highest λS observations were concentrated around August 20–22 and were classified as Transition under TRENDING_UP.
| Date | Asset | Signal | λS | Regime | Persistence Proxy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aug 21 | BTC | Transition | 0.694219 | TRENDING_UP | 23 obs. |
| Aug 21 | BTC | Transition | 0.693542 | TRENDING_UP | 22 obs. |
| Aug 21 | BTC | Transition | 0.692108 | TRENDING_UP | 15 obs. |
Persistence is presented here as the stored consecutive-observation proxy. It is not interpreted as verified uninterrupted elapsed time.
8. Alert Layer
No alert records were generated during August.
This is an important distinction from the derived risk bands: BTC and the global Risk Index both produced Transition observations, but the monthly alert collection remained empty and no Critical reading was recorded.
9. Hidden Macro Layer
| Hidden Macro Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| MacroPressure Average | 0.418504 |
| MacroPressure Minimum | 0.221692 |
| MacroPressure Maximum | 0.576475 |
| observeOnly = True | 383 records |
| observeOnly = False | 360 records |
Average stress adjustments were negative across all three assets: BTC -0.018244, SPX -0.026131, and GOLD -0.023747.
Diagnostic note: August cannot be described as an all-month observeOnly period from this summary alone. The near-even True/False split should be preserved as an explicit configuration/semantics question rather than silently normalized.
10. Operational Health
| Ops Status | Share |
|---|---|
| DEGRADED | 39.97% |
| OK_MARKET_CLOSED_CONTEXT | 29.61% |
| OK | 21.13% |
| FAILED | 9.29% |
August contained 743 recorded ops cycles. The system logged 440 market-closed skips and a stale-provider count of 138.
No documents were recorded in failed_runs, but 69 ops cycles were classified as FAILED. The monthly summary establishes both facts but does not provide enough information to reconcile the difference, so they should remain separately represented.
August removed July's large failed-run backlog, but operational health was still mixed rather than uniformly clean.
11. Diagnostic Conclusion
August broke July's calmer BTC pattern. BTC produced repeated Transition observations and became the source of the month's strongest asset-level and global pressure pockets.
GOLD nevertheless remained the persistent pressure carrier by monthly average and state distribution, while SPX became predominantly Stable.
The global Risk Index reached Transition, but its strongest readings were BTC-only and full three-asset coverage remained limited to 25.71%. No Critical readings or alert records occurred.
Operationally, the month no longer showed July's 533 failed-run documents, yet DEGRADED and FAILED ops-cycle states remained material and should not be collapsed into a clean-health interpretation.
August 2026 was a materially higher-tension month led by BTC Transition episodes and persistent Gold pressure, but the strongest global readings remained coverage-limited and the system produced no Critical readings or alert records.
12. Recommended Next Steps
- Track BTC Transition recurrence: August introduced the clearest BTC Transition cluster in the recent monthly archive and should be compared against September persistence and re-entry behavior.
- Preserve the global coverage qualifier: BTC-only readings still represented 72.41% of global observations, so elevated global bands must remain coverage-aware.
- Continue tracking persistent GOLD Pressure: GOLD remained above 96% Pressure and retained the highest average λS despite BTC producing the month's peak intensity.
- Watch the SPX reversal: SPX shifted from a pressured July profile to 93.12% Stable in August; September will show whether that stabilization persists.
- Audit Hidden Macro observeOnly semantics: The 383 True / 360 False split should be explained before a single month-wide Hidden Macro mode is asserted.
- Reconcile ops-cycle FAILED with empty failed_runs: Preserve the distinction and identify the operational path behind the 69 FAILED cycle statuses.
